Playing around on the canal
Today the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust had a festival at West Leaze, the “Wichelstowe Canal Fest” as they called it, though it’ll several years yet before the little boxes of Wichelstowe reach this area. The Trust’s new boat Dragonfly and a couple of others were doing a steady trade in boat trips. Given the canal’s economically unsuccessful past, it’s possibly the busiest the canal has ever been and, at £3 per person per ride, probably the most profitable.
